The interim decisions for five schools in Aranui were announced by Minister of Education Hon Hekia Parata on 22 May. The announcement proposed that a new, year 1-13 campus should be established on the current Aranui High School site and Aranui High School, Aranui Primary, Avondale Primary and Wainoni Primary should close.  Chisnallwood Intermediate should remain operating on its current site.
